QPR line up loan deal for Watford defender

QPR are lining up a deal to sign Watford’s Tommie Hoban on loan according to a report from London News Online.

This is set to be QPR head coach Ian Holloway’s first summer with the club and after a mediocre season when the club finished 18th in the Sky Bet Championship, he will be looking to reshape the squad so they finish further up in the league and perhaps challenge for a place in the play-offs. And already the West London side have been linked with a talented young defender who has experience of the league.

This report suggests that QPR are lining up a deal to sign Hoban on loan from Watford. The 23-year-old defender doesn’t look set to leave Watford on a permanent deal anytime soon with him having four years left on the deal, but the club doesn’t seem to think he’ll break into their first team this season. This means he will need to be loaned out to make sure he gets regular action and it appears his next home will be QPR.

Hoban spent last season on loan with Blackburn Rovers and while he put in some decent performances, it would end up being a miserable year for him. He was unable to stop Blackburn’s historic relegation into Sky Bet League One and will be wanting to improve this year to make sure ugly fact on his CV ends up being forgotten. With QPR wanting to improve and get up the table this season, this could be the ideal temporary home for him.
