Spurs look set to secure signature of Ryan Sessegnon

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have emerged as clear favourites to sign Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon.

The talented youngster has been linked with a move to the top flight since Fulham crashed out of the Play-Offs at the hands of Reading, but it was unclear where his destination would be.

He has attracted attention from a number of Premier League clubs following a fantastic debut season in the Sky Bet Championship with Fulham.

Liverpool and Spurs were among the favourites for the left sided player, whilst Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City were all said to be interested.

However, the Independent has today (May 30) reported that Liverpool have suffered a setback in their bid to sign Sessegnon, as spurs are now “clear favourites.”

Liverpool are currently without a first choice natural full back, and James Milner has had to deputise their all season, with Klopp wanting to bring in a young and upcoming left sided defender.

However, amid rumours that Tottenham Hotspur and England fullback Danny Rose is on his way to Manchester to join either United or City, Spurs are expected to bring Sessegnon in to compete with Welsh defender Ben Davies for the starting spot.

It is believed that Spurs’ system will suit Sessegnon more. Although a left back by trade, the 17 year old has great attacking potential, and has been compared to Welsh legend Gareth Bale.

Spurs play in a system which sees them use wing backs rather than full backs, which would allow Sessegnon to show his potential both defensively and offensively.
