Newcastle United have been linked with a host of players already this summer, and one of them is Portuguese star Ruben Semedo.
The Sporting Lisbon centre back has impressed throughout the season and is a target for a number of Premier League clubs.
Everton, Southampton and West Ham United are all said to be interested, with Rafa Benitez and Newcastle all huge admirers.
Benitez has made it clear that his defence is an area that he wants to target. He is looking to bring in a host of names to sturdy up his back four.
Ideally he wants players with Premier League experience, and although Semedo may not have that, he is certainly capable of performing at a high level.
And today (May 29), Portuguese media outlet Record reported exactly how much it would cost one of these teams to prize away Sporting Lisbon’s most valuable asset.
They reported that if Newcastle, or any of the aforementioned Premier League clubs are serious in their interest for the defender, it will cost them £17.4 million.
With the amount of money in football nowadays, that price tag is extremely unlikely to deter any potential suitors, and we could see a bidding war for the 23 year old.
