Sky Bet Championship club Sheffield Wednesday are likely to be searching for a new academy manager with current academy boss Dean Ramsdale set to join English Premier League giants Manchester City according to the Sheffield Star.

Ramsdale has spent the last four-and-a-half years working in the Wednesday academy and now boasts more than 20 years of experience in youth player development.

It has been revealed that English Premier League giants Manchester City have agreed a deal in principle with Ramsdale for The Owls’ academy coach to move to The Etihad Stadium to work within City’s youth development structure from next season. It is understood that the contract is all but signed and Wednesday must now look for a new academy manager to lead their highly rated youth development system.

During his time at Hillsborough, Ramsdale has overseen the development of a number of players who have gone on to gain first team playing experience including Cameron Dawson, Connor O’Grady, James Murphy and George Hirst and the academy manager will now have the opportunity to develop some world class young talent at Manchester City.

City’s under-18 side reached the FA Youth Cup Final last season and Under-18 Premier League Elite Group while the development squad impressed in the Premier League 2.
