Leeds: Whites Midfielder involved in car crash on Interntional duty

Leeds United midfielder Eunan O’Kane will still fly to New York with the Ireland squad after being in a car crash today, according to Belfast Live.

The Whites midfielder was involved in a multi-vehicle collision which wrote off his Jeep whilst travelling to Dublin.

Also involved in the accident was Brighton defender and International teammate Shane Duffy. But luckily, the pair emerged from the accident with just minor bumps and bruises according to the report.

Duffy’s father, Brian, took to social media to express his relief following the accident which left the Derry pair with just minor injuries.

“Believe me my heart missed a beat when Shane told me what happened.” Brian wrote on Facebook. “Frightening stuff – as my Nicole says life is too short. We thank God he is OK.

“Back is sore and very shaken up but he is still on his way to Dublin. He will be fine. He is one tough ticket.

“Jeep was a write off. He is a top lad and we are all behind him.”

The Irish Football Association released a statement that confirmed the pair had been involved in an incident, but also reiterated that they would still be travelling to America as planned.

“We can confirm Shane Duffy and Eunan O’Kane were involved in a minor car crash en route to Republic of Ireland training camp today.

“The two players have now reported safely to the team hotel in Dublin.”

O’Kane has made six senior appearances for his national side since making his début in August 2015.
