Newcastle United to boost wide options by signing three wingers

Newcastle United are set to improve their wide options by signing three wingers, Leicester City’s Tom Lawrence, Crystal Palace’s Andros Townsend and Liverpool’s Sheyi Ojo according to a report from the Newcastle Chronicle.

The Magpies are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after they got promoted to the Premier League after becoming the champions of the Sky Bet Championship and it seems like one of their main aims is to get more wingers in the squad. They are set to announce that Yoan Gouffran and Vurnon Anita are leaving in the next few days and need replacements to come in for next season.

And the Tyneside club have three players they are looking to sign to make sure they have the required quality out wide. The first man they are interested in is Tom Lawrence who currently plays for Leicester. He has struggled to break into the first team since signing from Manchester United but is coming off the back of an impressive loan spell with Ipswich Town. And Lawrence being able to play in a number of positions also makes him an appealing player to sign for Newcastle.

But he isn’t the only player that Newcastle are looking to sign. Their interest in Andros Townsend has been well-known for a while as they tried to sign him back in the January transfer window and will hope to finally bring him back to the St James Park this summer. Also on the target list is Ojo, a 19-year-old playmaker who has been a player that Newcastle have liked for a while.
