Crewe V Preston
Crewe are only 1 place and 1 point above the drop zone and face tough opposition, in 3rd placed Preston, for their last game of the season. The Railwaymen come into this match knowing that a win will definitely keep them up, in fact as long as Tranmere lose and Carlisle fail to win, they will stay up whatever. Their home form may be a worry for Crewe boss Steve Davis, Alexandra haven’t won at home since beating Sheffield United 3-0 on February 1st. Their recent form isn’t much better, they have only won twice in their last six games and haven’t scored in over 120 minutes of football. However, Crewe do have top scorer Chuks Aneke, on loan from Arsenal, back from a 3 match ban after he elbowed Wolves’ Richard Stearman. Crewe also have the possibility that fellow striker Max Clayton will return from a broken ankle he suffered in November. This attacking talent may be the reason Crewe stay up.
Previous Score: Preston 0-2 Crewe
