Leeds United set to approach Premier League winning manager

Leeds United have made an approach for former Leicester City and Chelsea manager Claudio Ranieri.

Earlier today, the72 reported that Ranieri’s odds to take over at Elland Road had dropped to 4/1, but ESPN reports that an official approach has been made.

Leeds United fans were understandably ecstatic when the rumours began to surface that Ranieri may be the new manger of the Yorkshire club.

Garry Monk resigned from the football club yesterday after he failed to agree a deal with new chairman Andrea Radrizzani.

Aitor Karanka had emerged as the early favourite for the job, but it now seems that Ranieri is Radrizzani’s first choice.

Claudio Ranieri has been without a job since February, when he was sacked as manager of Leicester City.

Just nine months before, Ranieri led the Foxes to arguably the greatest achievement in sporting history, when he helped them to win the Premier League title against all odds.

Since his sacking at the KingPower Stadium, reports have said that Ranieri has turned down offers from European giants Inter Milan, as well as Premier League side Watford, but Radrizzani is confident that he can convince his fellow Italian to take the reign at Elland Road.

Appointing Claudio Ranieri would really show intent from Leeds United, and would help demonstrate their ambitions to return to the Premier League.

The Daily Star reports that if Ranieri was to turn down the job at Leeds United, Aitor Karanka would be Radrizzani’s second choice.
