Following Garry Monk’s resignation from Leeds United yesterday (May 26), Leeds United fans were devastated, as they began to consider who would take over as manager of the club.
Aitor Karanka emerged as the bookies’ early favourite, but today, Premier League champion Claudio Ranieiri has seen his odds drop to as low as 4/1 to take over at Elland Road.
Ranieri won the hearts of the nation when he guided Leicester City to the Premier League title in 2015/16, but he was relieved of his duties earlier this year.
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter after Ranieri’s odds dropped, to share their feelings about this latest managerial link.
Here’s what a selection of them had to say:
Ranieri’s dropped odds have meant he is now second favourite to become the next Leeds United manager.

However, this Leeds supporter does not think that Claudio Ranieri would be the right choice for Leeds United. He wants to see someone similar to Monk be appointed.

This Leeds United fan clearly does not think that Ranieri’s next destination will be Leeds United…

That contrasts to this Leeds supporter, who seems convinced that the “mighty Leeds United” will soon appoint Claudio Ranieri as their new manager.

The appointment of Ranieri would certainly be a statement to the rest of the Sky Bet Championship, and would signal Leeds United’s intentions this year.
