Yesterday evening, (May24) Andrea Radrizzani completed his takeover of Leeds United.
The Italian had previously owned 50% of the club, with the other 50% being owned by his fellow countryman Massimo Cellino.
But following yesterday’s deal, Radrizzani now owns 100% of Leeds United, and Cellino’s tenure at the club has finally come to an end.
Leeds United fans had mixed feelings about the departure of Massimo Cellino.
After the news has break, the former Leeds chairman released a statement on the club’s official website.
He began by saying: “I have been proud to work at Leeds United, with nice people who have worked at the club with me.”
Cellino’s time at Leeds United has not been the easiest, and he jokingly remarked that “If you can survive working with [him], you can survive anything!”
He was very complimentary about the staff that have worked at the club during his time there.
He said: “I have always taught people to work for the club and not for me and in the end the staff have done so in a beautiful way.”
Speaking about the future of the famous Yorkshire club, Cellino seemed extremely optimistic.
I wish Andrea good luck. I am sure he will continue what I have started and show that people from our country are honest and hard working people,” he said.
He finished the statement with a touching message to all Leeds United fans.
It read: “Owners come and go but Leeds United will be there forever, for the fans – keep Marching on Together.”
“Goodbye and farewell.”
