Newcastle United’s search for a new striker is continuing as now they are plotting a move to sign Burnley’s Andre Gray according to a report from The Mirror.
The Magpies are set to return to the Premier League after they became the champions of the Sky Bet Championship and with it believed they will be spending a lot of money to make sure they won’t be making up the numbers, there has been a lot of reports suggesting who Newcastle might sign. It does appear that despite the great form of Dwight Gayle this season, they are looking to sign another striker and the latest report suggests they are looking to sign up one of Burnley’s best.
Gray has been a star player for the Clarets ever since he moved to the club back in 2015 for a massive £9m fee. He first fired the club back into the Premier League and has adjusted to life in the top tier well, scoring ten goals this season as Burnley were able to avoid relegation. But his future at Turf Moor is currently in doubt. He only has one year left on his current deal and Gray has turned down the offer of an extension.
This is where Newcastle are looking to step in and snatch Gray away from Burnley. They are hoping they can snap him this summer if Burnley decide to cash in rather than risk losing him on a free though they would be in competition with Tottenham Hotspur for his signature.
