Ahmed Elmohamady, Aston Villa planning move for Premier League right back

Aston Villa planning move for Premier League right back

Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce is eyeing up a move for Hull City’s Egyptian defender Ahmed Elmohamady.

The pair worked together at Hull City, and enjoyed promotion together from the Sky Bet Championship in 2015/16.

Following Hull’s relegation from the top flight, Elmohamady will be dropping down to the second tier again, and the Daily Star reports that he may choose to switch sides to Aston Villa, to join back up with Steve Bruce.

The Villa boss has made it very clear in the past that he is a big fan of the work of Ahmed Elmohamady.

Speaking in 2015, when the pair were together at Hull City, Steve Bruce said: “The first thing you have to say about Elmo is that he is blessed with wonderful athleticism. A lot of that is because of how well he looks after himself. He does not drink alcohol. He trains well every single day.”

“For him, training can be so effortless. It doesn’t take anything out of him training day in day out, and you can see that because he takes it into every game,”

“He is always in good shape physically. I guess he can count himself lucky that he has never been injured in that time, but it is because of his fitness levels. He deserves it because he does all the right things to give himself every chance of playing.”

Elmohamady is an experienced international. He has made 74 appearances for his native Egypt, scoring twice.

He has been on the books at Hull City since joining them on loan in 2012. He made the move permanent in 2013.
