Venky’s set to discuss future of Rovers boss

Controversial Blackburn Rovers owners Venky’s are set to meet with manager Tony Mowbray to discuss his future at the club according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

The 53-year-old was appointed Rovers boss in late February with the club embroiled in a relegation battle and while the Teessider could not fend off the threat of relegation to Sky Bet League One, the results and performances did significantly improve since his appointment.

It has now been reported that Mowbray has travelled to India to meet Rovers’ unpopular owners Venky’s for the first time to discuss both his and the club’s future.

Many fans hope to see their manager stay and build on the foundations which have been set since his appointment however it is understood that Mowbray will discuss his own future as well as next season’s playing budget before making a final decision on whether to remain at Ewood Park.

Should Venky’s be satisfied with Mowbray’s performance it is understood that the Rovers boss would like to discuss a long term deal with his current contract only lasting until next summer.

Mowbray has taken charge of Rovers on 15 occasions and despite the club’s lowly league position, they only lost three of those matches.

The Lancashire club were relegated on the final day of the Sky Bet Championship season on goal difference despite winning 3-1 at Brentford.
