Sky Bet Championship runners up Brighton & Hove Albion have issued their retained list, which has seen two players released from the football club. Four more first-team players have been offered extensions in the hope that they’ll remain at the Amex Stadium for their maiden voyage into the Premier League.

Earlier this week, Dale Stephens extended his Brighton deal for a further four seasons. The key midfield player has been the subject of transfer speculation over the last year or two. Chris Hughton will be delighted to tie him down for his first crack at the top flight too. Richie Towell has penned a new two-year deal with the Seagulls too.

Focusing on the two departures and they won’t be shocked to see they are departing. Vegard Forren signed to provide defensive cover in the final months of the campaign. Shane Duffy and Connor Goldson being unavailable meant that Hughton’s options were stretched, so brought the former Molde man in to provide back-up. He moves on, along with striker Chris O’Grady. He has mainly been away on loan over the last few seasons, most recently with Burton Albion. Goalkeeper Casper Ankergren is set to retire from playing duties and has been offered a ‘backroom role’.

First and second choice keepers David Stockdale and Niki Maenpaa have been offered extensions by Hughton. Of course, there has been plenty of speculation about Stockdale possibly rejecting this deal, but this looks likely to be an ongoing situation. Left back Gaetan Bong is another who the club wish to keep on, in addition to veteran midfielder Steve Sidwell.

Released: Vegard Forren & Chris O’Grady.

Offered backroom role: Casper Ankergren.

Signed new deals: Dale Stephens & Richie Towell.

Offered new deals: David Stockdale, Niki Maenpaa, Gaetan Bong & Steve Sidwell.
