Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie has been voted by you as the 7th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Ritchie is the 7th best player in the Football League.

The Magpies were determined not to stay in the Sky Bet Championship for long after they were relegated to this division last year and so spent a lot of money on players proven in this league to make sure they got promoted. One of those players was Ritchie, who was one of the best players in the league when he got Bournemouth promoted. And it turns out that wasn’t a fluke as he was able to replicate that form with Newcastle this season.

While it was hard to stand out for Newcastle in what was a year of standout performers, Ritchie was able to show why he was a special player with the amount of goals he scored. Despite playing as a winger, he would net 16 times this season, a tally that many strikers would be jealous of. He would create plenty of goals as well, ending the season on nine assists.

Now Ritchie will be back in the Premier League after Newcastle became the Sky Bet Championship champions and he will be hoping to prove he is capable of being a great performer in this league after being sold by Bournemouth last year.
