Brighton sign Bundesliga midfielder ahead of Premier League campaign

Brighton & Hove Albion have today confirmed the signing of German midfielder Pascal Gross from FC Ingolstadt 04 on a four-year contract. He makes the move from the relegated Bundesliga side and is Chris Hughton’s first summer signing ahead of their debut Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old has been with Ingolstadt with 2012 after making the move from Hoffenheim. He appeared 34 times last season, scoring four goals, which coincidently were all matches Ingolstadt won. Gross has chosen Brighton over other Premier League and European clubs.

The Seagulls has paid an undisclosed fee to secure the services of Gross. He is an attacking midfielder in the eyes of Hughton, offering ‘something different’ to what they already have within their squad,

“We are delighted that Pascal as opted to sign for us, amid interest from a number of clubs from the Premier League and across Europe, and I am pleased to welcome him to the club.

“He offers something different to our existing midfielders, as an attacking midfielder in a more advanced position, operating behind the forward line; he will give us a different and new option going into the new season.”

He’ll appear for Ingolstadt one last time this weekend, which is when the German season comes to a conclusion. He’ll play in a home clash against Schalke, so Brighton fans may wish to find a video to catch a glimpse of their latest signing in action! For those of you not to aware of Gross, then the video below will hopefully give you a little flavour as to the man who has just signed on.
