Aston Villa midfielder Conor Hourihane has been voted by you as the 11th best player in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Hourihane is the 11th best player in the Football League.
Hourihane started the season with Barnsley after helping them to get promoted to the Sky Bet Championship and it turned out he was the perfect fit for this division. He was the best player as the Tykes surprised everyone by challenging for a place in the play-offs and he was capable of scoring the odd stunner from time to time to make sure he made it onto the Sky Sports highlight reels.
However with that form Hourihane got noticed and he soon ended up being part of the Aston Villa squad as they aimed to spend big on talent that would bring them back to the Premier League. And even though the West Midlands side have a lot of talent in the midfield, Hourihane soon made himself the premier midfielder in the squad and was a regular even though the club didn’t end up challenging for promotion like was expected at the start of the season.
Hourihane will be playing in his first full season with Aston Villa next season and he will be hoping to lead them to the Premier League like he led Barnsley to the Championship last year.
