Top 50 Players of the EFL – 13th: John Fleck (Sheffield United)

Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck has been voted by you as the 13th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Fleck is the 13th best player in the Football League.

Fleck has had a long and interesting history with Sheffield United, he first tried to sign on loan for the Blades in 2012 but it fell through due to a fax machine breaking at the worst time, but he finally ended up at Bramall Lane this summer after signing from Coventry City. And after waiting for years for Fleck to be in the famous red and white stripes, he made sure it was worth the wait by having one of the best seasons of his career.

The 25-year-old midfielder basically controlled the midfield, allowing all the other talent in the Sheffield United team to go forward damage the other side. That’s not to say Fleck couldn’t damage teams himself, he did net four times including the goal against Northampton Town which got United back into the Sky Bet Championship after their six-year exile, but he certainly helped make the other players in the team better.

Now that United are back in the Championship, Fleck will be hoping to continue his recent great performances and showing that the South Yorkshire side aren’t willing to just make up the numbers now they are back in the second tier.
