The future of Paul Lambert at Wolverhampton Wanderers looks bleak, amid rumours that he is on his way out.
And to add to the speculation that he’s leaving, William Hill have opened odds on who will be the Wolves manager come the first game of the season.
We take a look at the top five favourites to become the next manager of the Midlands club:
5) Garry Monk – 12/1: Current Leeds United boss Garry Monk is currently the fifth favourite to take over at Wolverhampton Wanderers. Monk’s future at Leeds is up in the air at the moment, and nothing has been finalised as to whether he will remain at the Yorkshire club this season. Monk’s previous role in management was at Premier League club Swansea City, where he helped consolidate them as a top flight side. His first season in their second tier saw him take Leeds United to seventh place in the league, narrowly missing out on the Play-Offs.
4) David Wagner – 10/1: David Wagner has arguably been the manager of the year in the Sky Bet Championship. He carried Huddersfield Town to a fifth place finish in the table, which of course guaranteed them a spot in the Play-Offs. Even more impressively, Wagner masterminded a penalty shootout victory over Sheffield Wednesday in the Semi-Final, to book his side’s ticket to Wembley. Huddersfield Town will face Reading for a place in the Premier League, and it has to be assumed that if the Terriers were to get promoted to the top flight, Wagner would not leave to manage in the Championship. However, if his side are beaten by Reading, he could very well have his head turned by offers from Wolves.
