Plymouth Argyle midfielder Graham Carey has been voted by you as the 17th best player in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Carey is the 17th best player in the Football League.
The 27-year-old midfielder had been all around the country before landing at Plymouth in 2015 where he initially signed a one-year deal. He would impress enough to get a contract extension and he took that opportunity with aplomb as he soon showed that he was one of the best players in Sky Bet League One by leading the Pilgrims to promotion after years of misery in the bottom tier of the EFL.
Because of the way Carey simply runs at defenders until he either runs through them or past them, he has become feared across the league. And even though he is not a striker he managed to get a lot of goals, finishing the season with 15 goals in 54 appearances, becoming their leading scorer and beating striker Jake Jervis by three goals. But he wasn’t just scoring the goals, he also contributed 15 assists showing he is a team player and not just for himself,
Now that Plymouth are back in League One, Carey will be hoping to prove himself in a league that he hasn’t played in since 2010. He will hope to show that he can be as much a star in that league as he was when he led to club to promotion this year.
