Top 50 Players of the EFL – 20th: Jonathan Kodjia (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia has been voted by you as the 20th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Kodjia is the 20th best player in the Football League.

The Villains have had a disappointing season as even though they spent a lot of money following their relegation from the Premier League, many of big name signings flopped and they failed to make any sort of challenge for promotion. But while many of their transfers didn’t work out, one of the big names they brought in ended up being a huge success. That big name was Kodjia, who they signed from Bristol City towards the end of the transfer window.

Even while the team around him floundered, Kodjia was a huge success and kept getting on the score sheet no matter which manager was in charge. He scored 22 goals for Aston Villa and while that didn’t help the team get up the Sky Bet Championship table, it likely helped them to avoid what would have been a very embarrassing battle against relegation.

Next season is one of hope for Aston Villa. After a very disappointing year for the club, they’ll be hoping to bounce back and challenge for promotion like they were expected to this season. When they do that, Kodjia will be wanting to lead the way and be scoring the goals that return them to the Premier League.
