Barnsley’s Marley Watkins has agreed a move to join Norwich City according to a report from Teamtalk.
In what was a great season for the Tykes as they challenged for a spot in the Sky Bet Championship play-offs just a year after they were promoted to Sky Bet League One, Watkins was one of their star players. The 26-year-old was simply brilliant for them, scoring ten goals in 45 appearances and was voted as the 50th Best Player in the EFL.
But despite having a great year at Oakwell, Watkins decided to turn down a contract offer from the South Yorkshire club and find a new club now that his contract has ended. This led to several other teams from the Championship to become interested in the forward and it appears that he has now find the team he will be playing with next season.
This report suggests that Watkins has agreed a deal to join Norwich and that he has penned a three-year deal with the club. The signing should be completed soon too with the report going on to say that it will be confirmed within the next 24 hours barring any unforeseen circumstances.
Norwich have been able to sign Watkins despite having a manager in place, though it seems like they will be appointing a German coach as their new boss in the next few days. But with director of football Stuart Webber now in place, they have already started to make moves to make sure Norwich do challenge for promotion next season.
