Newcastle United eyeing Serie A goalkeeper

Everyday it seems that there is a new story to come out of Newcastle United, and today is no different.

The ‘Rafalution’ is taking place at Sky Bet Championship winners, as the Spaniard bids to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.

The latest player that Newcastle United have been linked to is 31 year old goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis.

Whilst Karnezis is a relatively unknown name in England, the Greek goalkeeper is making a name for himself in Italy, playing for Serie A side Udinese.

And tuttoudinese has this week reported that Newcastle United are interested in signing the talented goalkeeper.

The Greek Number One has been at Udinese since 2013, when he moved from Panathinaikos.

He struggled to make an immediate impression at the Italian club, and was loaned to Spain, where he played for Granada.

Karnezis played six games during the 2013/14 in Spain, including earning himself a clean sheet against world giants Barcelona.

The keeper made his Serie A debut for Udinese in 2014, and since then has cemented his place as the club’s number one.

He’s appeared 108 times in almost three years for the Italian club, helping them to consolidate themselves as a top flight team.

Karnezis’ experience extends beyond club football. He made his debut for Greece in 2012, and has not looked back since, featured for his country in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He has earned 42 caps for his nation.
