Championship trio eye up deal for strong Brighton midfielder

The Daily Mirror (16th May, Page 49) reports that three Sky Bet Championship clubs are interested in signing out of favour Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Rohan Ince. The player ended last season on loan at Swindon Town, who were relegated from Sky Bet League One.

It is believed that Barnsley, Ipswich Town and Wolverhampton Wanderers have all expressed a desire to sign Ince this summer. Although Swindon did ultimately go down, the 24-year-old was one of the rare shining lights at the County Ground last season.

The powerful performer has found first team opportunities and general game time hard to come by at Brighton. Now that they have stepped up a level and into the Premier League for the first time, it is highly likely he will be even more out of favour under Chris Hughton, who surely wouldn’t stand in his way should another club come in for him. The managerial situation at Wolves could place any move to them in doubt, but Paul Heckingbottom and Mick McCarthy clearly remain keen on a possible deal.

Ince came through the ranks at Chelsea before his release in 2013. He linked up with Brighton shortly afterwards, going on to make over 80 appearances for the Seagulls in league and cup. In more recent times he had a brief stint on loan at Fulham, before spending the second half of the last campaign at Swindon. He has been a regular in the Brighton Under-23 side, but the 24-year-old will have his ambitions being very much at first-team level.
