Reading’s Yann Kermorgant has been voted by you as the 27th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Kermorgant is the 27th best player in the Football League.

Jaap Stam has very much cultivated the possession game at Reading this season, and French veteran forward Yann Kermorgant has been central to the Dutchman’s plans. The surprise package of this campaign, Reading have been robust at the back and dangerous going forward, and Kermorgant’s tireless pressing game combined with his impressive athleticism has thrust the 35-year-old into the hearts of Reading fans.

Reading fans were shouting out for a new striker to come in for the first few months of the season, but 9 goals in his last 10 games shows the impact the Frenchman has made this term. 18 league goals this season is an impressive tally for a 35-year-old, and after signing a new deal extending his contract to the summer of 2018, it’s clear to see he’s part of Stam’s plans next season too.

Perhaps his most standout feature however is his tenacity and incredible work rate. Deployed  as a defensive forward by Stam, Kermorgant adds much more than just goals, and his work in his own penalty area has been just as valuable as his work up top.

In Kermorgant, Reading have a target man and talisman capable of firing them to the Premier League, not mentioning the fact he’s one of the biggest aerial threats in the league – in the 1-1 draw against Fulham in the Play-Off semi-final first leg, Kermorgant won more headers than the entire Fulham team.
