Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga has been voted by you as the 33rd best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Assombalonga is the 33rd best player in the Football League.

It’s fair to say that Britt Assombalonga has become a slight hero with Nottingham Forest fans over the last few weeks. His two goals in the final game of the season helped Forest survive on the last day, and confirm their status as a Sky Bet Championship club. Assombalonga has suffered a lot with injuries since he left Peterborough United to join Nottingham Forest, but when he plays he shows his capabilities. The striker is only 24 years old, so assuming that he can stay clear of injuries, he has the potential for a big future. This season he’s been slightly more consistent in terms of the games he has played. He’s appeared 32 times for Forest in the Championship. In these 32 games, he has scored 14 goals and assisted one. He may not be one of the top scorers in the league, but if it wasn’t for his goals, Nottingham Forest would be a lot worse off.

Assombalonga’s impressive performances have led to him being linked with a call up to the Democratic Republic of Congo squad. The striker was born in the capital of DR Congo, and is eligible for the country through his grandparents.

Forest may face a struggle to keep hold of their hitman, but they’ll be desperate to as they bid to have a more successful campaign next time round.
