According to the print edition of the Sun on Sunday, Derby County are considering a £3million bid for Leeds United target Ollie Watkins.
The 21 year old midfielder has made a real name for himself in Sky Bet League Two with Exeter City this season, and was voted as the EFL young player of the year in April.
Watkins’ performances throughout the season have enabled Exeter City to reach the League Two Play-Offs, finishing fourth in the league.
The youngster has attracted the attention of a number of Sky Bet Championship clubs, most notably Leeds United, but reports in the press are suggesting that Derby County are set to become the first side to submit an official bid.
Fellow Championship side Bristol City have been reported as interested, whilst Premier League giants Manchester United and Arsenal are rumoured to be looking at Watkins as a star for the future.
Ollie Watkins has had a fantastic season, which helped him to a place on the72’s top 50 players in the EFL list. He was voted in at 45th.
He’s featured in 45 league games for Exeter City this season, meaning he has missed just the one.
In these 45 games, he’s scored 13 goals, as well as assisting 10 for his team mates.
He is expected to leave the Sky Bet League Two side no matter what the result of their Play-Off campaign, but where he will end up is anyone’s guess.
Exeter City will face Carlisle United over two legs, with the winner coming up against either Blackpool or Luton Town for a place in the third tier.
