Top 50 Players of the EFL – 41st: Tom Elliott (AFC Wimbledon)

AFC Wimbledon striker Tom Elliott has been voted by you as the 41st best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Elliott is the 41st best player in the Football League.

The Dons got promoted to Sky Bet League One for the first time since they were forced to reform after the original Wimbledon and moved and became MK Dons. While this was an amazing moment for AFC Wimbledon, they knew that they would have to be pretty special to make sure their stay in this division wasn’t a short one. And that was when Elliott stepped up and became a star.

Life is made much easier when you have a guy in your squad who will regularly get on the score sheet for you and that was what Elliott was to Wimbledon. This season he would score 13 goals for the South London club, being key as the club managed to evade being involved in relegation battle and instead be safe in mid-table, a huge achievement considering they hadn’t played in this league before in their current form.

Elliott’s future however is currently in doubt as his contract runs out this summer, meaning that he may be set to leave Wimbledon. However should he end up staying at Kingsmeadow, he will be hoping to score even more goals to help them push further up the League Two table.
