Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Kieran Lee has been voted as the 43rd best player in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Lee is the 43rd best player in the Football League.
Sometimes the only way you can tell how important a player is to the team is watch them play without said player. And Wednesday knew how important Lee was to the team before he went down with an injury midway through the season. And when he was in the physio’s room instead of on the pitch, the Owls’ form dropped and it looked for a while that they might not make it into the Sky Bet Championship play-offs. But when Lee got back into the first team towards the end of the season, their form suddenly got great and took them to 4th in the table.
It’s no surprise to see why Wednesday’s fortunes tend to revolve around Lee. He is a great midfielder who can easily control a game with his passing ability but is also a danger when advancing forward as he has a penchant for breaking into the box and scoring. So even though the former Oldham Athletic man only made 26 appearances for the club, he would score five goals.
Now Lee will be concentrating on their upcoming play-off semi-final match against Huddersfield Town to try and make sure Wednesday get promoted to the Premier League
