He’s a player that has attracted a lot of interest from clubs in the Sky Bet Championship, but yesterday, Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony confirmed that Marcus Maddison has been the subject of several offers from Championship clubs.
Leeds United are the favourites to sign the talented winger, having narrowly missed out last January.
Marcus Maddison said he was gutted to have missed out on a deal at Elland Road last year, when Massimo Cellino pulled out of a deal at the last minute.
Speaking to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, the Posh chairman was asked whether he had received any offers for Maddison.
He responded: “Yeah, of course we are. The Championship has just finished, and there has been phone calls.
“We’ve had offers for a few players, but nothing that has interested me yet.”
Peterborough United have just signed a player who has been compared to Maddison.
This player is Danny Lloyd, who joined from Stockport County on a free transfer.
Marcus Maddison has been nothing short of quality over the past few years at the ABAX Stadium, but with Posh currently struggling to push on past mid-table, it is believed his eyes have wondered onwards and upwards.
The former Newcastle United and Gateshead midfielder scored nine goals in Sky Bet League One this season. His more impressive stat however is his assists, setting up 17 for his team mates.
Maddison has been transfer listed as part of the club’s policy, which sees anyone who is entering the final year of their contract being placed on the transfer list.
