Top 50 Players of the EFL – 47. Nicky Adams (Carlisle United)

Carlisle United midfielder Nicky Adams has been voted by you as the 47th best player in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have discovered you think that Adams is the 47th best player in the Football League.

The 30-year-old midfielder has become vastly experienced in the lower parts of the EFL over the last few years having played for the likes of Rochdale, Bury and Northampton Town over the last few years, getting promoted from Sky Bet League Two with them last year. He would be released despite this promotion though and found himself with Carlisle for this year.

And it turns out that it has been a great move for both parties as Adams ended up becoming a star player for Carlisle. He has been a key player for the club, controlling things as the Cumbrians make a push to get towards the upper parts of League Two. And the fans have acknowledged it, with the Bolton born man picking up plenty of personal awards over the last few weeks, including the coveted Player of the Season award from Carlisle themselves. And now the latest award is that the fans have voted him as the 47th best player in the EFL.

But Adams would happily trade all of this away to make sure they got promoted this year. They will face Exeter City in the play-off semi-finals this week.
