Newcastle United start talks to sign Manchester City duo

Newcastle United have started talks to try and sign Manchester City’s Fernando and Eliaquim Mangala according to a report from the Daily Mail.

The Magpies spent big to make sure they returned to the Premier League as the champions of the Sky Bet Championship and it seems that now that they are back the big time, it seems like that big spending is set to continue. They are already looking to improve their squad to make sure they make a big impact in the top tier now that they have returned and this report suggests they have started talks to sign two big name players.

Currently their head coach Rafa Benitez is in talks with Manchester City to try and sign two of their players with them believed to be Fernando and Mangala. Both came into the Etihad Stadium with big reputations and with the belief they’d become key players for the side. However while they were regulars for a while, both have fallen out of favour. Fernando only made 12 appearances for them this season while Mangala was shipped out on loan to La Liga side Valencia this season.

And with both players set to leave Manchester City, with it being believed that the giants are set to sell a lot of their players this summer as head coach Pep Guardiola continues to shape the squad in his image, Newcastle have moved in. The Tyneside club see them as massive improvements on the players they currently have and while they struggle to get into the first team of Manchester City, they’d be key players for them.
