Leeds United head coach Garry Monk has been voted by you as the 3rd best manager in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Monk is the 3rd best manager in the Football League.
With all of their ownership problems, pretty much everyone dismissed Leeds before the start of the season, with the appointment of Monk not gaining much enthusiasm outside of West Yorkshire. Some even said that they were more likely to be involved in a battle against relegation than they were to be fighting for a promotion spot.
Yet Monk was able to prove all the critics wrong as Leeds sustained a push for promotion throughout the year. He was able to form one of the strongest defences in the league with Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson forming a formidable partnership that attacks across the Sky Bet Championship struggled to break down.
Things didn’t end up going well for Leeds in the end as a poor run of form saw them drop out of the play-off places, but this season was still a great one for the West Yorkshire side. Even with all the drama happening upstairs, which has often derailed any promise a Leeds season has had, they were able to stay involved in the battle for promotion throughout the year.
Next year Monk will hope to stay with Leeds and make sure they do get promoted next season.
