Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder has been voted by you as the 4th best manager in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Wilder is the 4th best manager in the Football League.
The Blades have suffered for the last few years as they have been stuck in Sky Bet League One and with their South Yorkshire rivals often beating them out of the division, they have been largely mocked in their region. However last year the club decided to go back to basics and appoint home town boy Chris Wilder as their new manager after his heroics with Northampton Town the previous year. And it turned out that it was one of the best decisions the club has ever made.
Wilder would end up being the man to lead Sheffield United back to the Sky Bet Championship after six years of trying. And he was able to do it without much fuss, they didn’t need to go through the play-offs and it didn’t go down to the last day, their promotion and status as champions was sealed long before the season ended. The only thing in doubt was whether or not they got the mythical 100 points, something they did do when they beat Chesterfield in what was a party on the final day of the season at Bramall Lane.
Now United will be looking to make an impact now that they are back in the Championship. Of course the main aim will be to simply consolidate their place in that league though there is some thought that they might be able to challenge for the play-offs.
