Seagulls linked with move for Celtic star

Sky Bet Championship runners up Brighton & Hove Albion are being linked with a surprise move for out of favour Celtic defender Efe Ambrose according to the Daily Record.

The 28-year-old Nigerian international centre-back is set to become a free agent with his Celtic contract due to expire.

Ambrose has made just two appearances for The Bhoys this season and found himself loaned out to Scottish Championship winners Hibernian for the final few weeks of the campaign.

With Ambrose set to be searching for a new club in the summer, it has been reported that Premier League new boys Brighton & Hove Albion are weighing up a move for the player. It is thought that the defender would favour a return to loan club Hibernian after enjoying his time at Easter Road but the prospect of playing in the English Premier League could offer the centre-back something extra to think about.

The experienced defender started his career in his homeland with Kaduna United and Bayelsa United before playing in Isreal with Ashdod. Ambrose joined Celtic in summer 2012 and the player has gone on to make 168 appearances for the Glasgow giants, scoring six goals.

Ambrose made 12 appearances for Hibernian during his loan spell in Leith and quickly proved the doubters wrong with some accomplished displays for The Hibees.
