Wolves make £2m bid for Preston North End striker

Wolves have made an offer worth £2m for Preston North End’s Jordan Hugill according to a report from HITC Sport.

The 24-year-old striker has been one of the breakout stars of the season, being a key player for the Lilywhites as they made a push for the Sky Bet Championship play-off places. He would end up scoring 12 goals for the Lancashire club and was also key to energizing the team, constantly appearing in the press saying that Preston could and should get a top six place in the league.

But as with any player starts to emerge as a talent, several teams have become interested in Hugill. It has been well known that Ipswich have been interested for a while and it has been reported that they have had bids rejected for him in previous transfer windows. However now the interest is coming from elsewhere as this report suggests that it is wolves who have made a bid for the former Port Vale striker.

Their head coach Paul Lambert realises that it was a very disappointing season for Wolves who expected to push for promotion after their big money takeover by Fosun International. They were instead stuck in mid-table and never looked like getting a spot in the play-offs. In order to correct that for next season, Lambert is wanting to sign proven Championship players instead of bringing in foreign talent like last year.

This has lead to Wolves planning to spend good money on signing Hugill, with them making a £2m bid to try and tempt Preston to allow him to leave Deepdale.
