Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Bristol City and Bolton Wanderers are all in the race to sign Walsall’s Erhun Oztumer according to a report from HITC Sport.
The Saddlers did suffer this season because they weren’t able to recover fully from the exodus of players that followed after they reached the Sky Bet League One play-offs but not everything was bad for them. They were able to sign Oztumer on a two-year contract from Peterborough United and he soon became the star player for the side. He would end up scoring 15 goals for them this season despite being a midfielder, with some fans deciding to dub him as the Turkish Messi due to the standard of his performances.
However due to the fact Walsall have sold many of their top players before and the fact the 25-year-old midfielder only has one year left on his contract, teams that will be playing in the Sky Bet Championship next season are starting to circle. Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, Bristol City and Bolton are all interested in signing Oztumer as they look to add more talent to their squad ahead of what will be a tough year in the second tier of English football.
All of these teams are looking for some extra spark in attack and with Oztumer scoring a lot of goals in League One this year, they believe he could make the jump up to the Championship. They believe they could get him for a decent fee due to the fact his contract is set to expire next season, though the fact there are so many teams looking to sign him Walsall should be able to make sure one of their star man doesn’t leave for nothing.
