According to reports in The Sun, Newcastle United have shown an interest in signing Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure.
The Ivorian midfielder is out of contract at the two time Premier League champions at the end of the season, and although Pep Guardiola is rumoured to be interested in offering Toure a new deal, the City player may look elsewhere, as he pursues regular first team football.
Newly promoted Newcastle United are expected to have an extremely large budget to work with when the transfer window opens, and they’ve been linked with splashing the cash in order to get Yaya Toure to move to the North East.
Another club linked with Toure are Brighton. The south coast club have also just been promoted to the Premier League, finishing second in the Sky Bet Championship.
And the Sun reports that they have also shown an interest in Yaya Toure, if the three time African football of the year decides to leave Manchester.
Yaya Toure has become somewhat of a legend at Manchester City, helping them win the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League, but he has fallen out of favour with Guardiola.
Despite this, the Spanish manager is interested in keeping the midfielder on, but Toure has confirmed he isn’t signing any new deals until he knows his game time for next season.
Other Premier League clubs, such as West Ham and Crystal Palace are said to be interested in the 33-year-old midfielder.
