Aston Villa and Derby County join Premier League teams in race to sign Bristol City defender

Aston Villa and Derby County have joined a number of Premier League teams in the chase to sign Bristol City’s Aden Flint according to a report from Page 63 of the May 7th edition of The Sun on Sunday.

Yesterday, reports emerged that both West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United were interested in Flint and that they would likely make a move for the towering defender, believed to be valued at £5million, in the summer. However it seems like the top tier sides are not the only ones who have been impressed by him in the last few weeks and some of Bristol City’s Sky Bet Championship rivals are set to join the race to sign him.

Both Aston Villa and Derby County are coming off the back of disappointing seasons where they expected to be challenging for promotion but ended up in the mediocrity of mid-table. Luckily for them, both teams have the money to invest heavily in their squads in the summer to make sure they will be fighting for a spot in the top six next time around. And one area that both teams will be looking to improve is the defence.

That’s why both teams have started to look at Flint and are prepared to match any bid that either side end up making. The 27-year-old defender has adjusted to life in the Championship perfectly since the Robins got promoted back to the second tier in 2015 but now with several teams circling, his time at Ashton Gate may be about to come to an end.
