Charlton Athletic’s Ricky Holmes is asking the club to offer him a new contract which increases his wages to the levels similar of some of his teammates or is at risk of leaving. Charlton fans have taken to Twitter to react.
Ricky Holmes joined Charlton Athletic last season from Northampton Town for a fee around £120,000, which has no doubt paid dividends this season.
Holmes has adapted well to the life in Sky Bet League One, being voted the Player of the Year by the Charlton faithful, and ranks at the summit of goal scorers, netting thirteen.
According to the South London Press, Holmes is not a top earner at the club, despite the importance of his contributions to his first season at The Valley, and is commanding a new contract which reflects his value to Robinson and his squad.
With the impressive performance, the former Northampton player has shown since joining Charlton, will most definitely put him on the radar of clubs in League One and in the Championship. Therefore, a new contract for the winger, meeting his demands, may be the only way to hold onto his services for the upcoming 2017/18 season.
Charlton Atheltic fans have taken to Twitter to react to the prospect of losing Ricky Holmes, and his request for a new contract.

Your best player should be your best paid player, pay Holmes what he wants and he stays, it's that easy #cafc
