Sheffield United romped home to the Sky Bet League One title this season and manager Chris Wilder has been quick to put plans together for their latest crack at the Sky Bet Championship. They have issued their retained list, which has seen two first-team members not offered extensions and have left the club.

Also, Sheffield United have also placed a further three players on the transfer list. A loan star that has impressed with the Blades this year has been offered a deal, whilst five more have been automatically given extensions based on appearance clauses within their original contracts.

24-year-old creative midfielder Stefan Scougall headlines those free to depart Bramall Lane. The Scot has been with the club since his move from Livingston in 2014 but started just six league games last season. Another Scot, striker Marc McNulty, also exits. He spent time out on loan at Bradford City over the last season, starting just once in the league for the Blades.

Jay O’Shea, who impressed on loan from Chesterfield, is someone that Wilder wishes to keep and has therefore been offered a deal. He was named on Chesterfield’s retained list earlier in the week, so his future certainly lies away from the Spireites.

Five more players have had contracts extended after playing a certain amount of games or meeting various other criteria. Most notably this includes captain and top scorer Billy Sharp. Versatile defender Keiron Freeman, hard-working midfielder Paul Coutts and ex-Blackpool man Chris Basham will remain with the club as well. Jake Wright completes the list of those to stay with the club.

To conclude the retained list, Matt Done, who joined for a big fee from Rochdale in 2015, is available for transfer. The same applies to former Oldham Athletic central defender James Wilson. Finally, left back Chris Hussey, once of Bury and AFC Wimbledon, is someone else the club are open for offers for as well.

Released: Stefan Scougall & Marc McNulty.

Transfer listed: Matt Done, Chris Hussey & James Wilson.

Offered a contract: Jay O’Shea.

Triggered clauses that extends their contracts: Billy Sharp, Paul Coutts, Chris Basham, Jake Wright & Keiron Freeman.
