Peterborough United: Ricky Miller in scoring action – a sign of what to come?

Earlier in the week, Peterborough United announced that the National League Player of the Year, Ricky Miller, signed a three-year deal to join the Cambridgeshire side starting from the 1st of June. Is his potency in front of goal a sign of what is to come for Peterborough?

Ricky Miller scored 42 goals this season for Dover Athletic, a tally which saw the 28 year-old score in almost every game he featured in as part of the Non-League side. A reliable force on the attack, which helped Dover Athletic finish in sixth spot in the 2016/17 season.

Peterborough United fans will be hoping that the striker can bring an element of his potent and proficient form to the English Football League, in particular, to Sky Bet League One, which can be a physical and tough league at times. However, if Miller is able to score a number of goals between 15 and 21, which is an obvious reduction from his 42 last season which will be expected due to the increase of quality in the EFL, in comparison to the conference, Posh fans could be set for an exciting campaign.

Jay Owler, has compiled a video of all 73 goals that Miller has scored between 2014 to 2017.

The Cambridgeshire side is taking a risk on recruiting Miller for the upcoming season, especially if the Posh are solely relying on Miller next season to be their scoring force. However, if Miller can step up and prove that he deserves to play in the EFL, then Peterborough United could find themselves finishing in the top six, rather than midtable.
