Barnsley in hunt for players from two Premier League clubs

Barnsley are in the hunt for players from Premier League sides Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion, according to Sunday’s print edition of The Sun.

It is understood that Barnsley are looking to sign Liverpool winger Harry Wilson and West Brom forward Tyler Roberts this summer as they look to solidify their position in the Championship.

Wilson, 20, is a product of the Liverpool academy and made his first-team debut for the club in the FA Cup this season.  He spent time on loan at Crewe Alexandra in League One last season, making seven league appearances for the club.

Roberts, 18, spent the second half of this season on loan at League One side Shrewsbury Town.  The forward scored four goals in 13 games for the club.  He had spent the first half of the season on loan at Oxford United, but scored only two goals in 22 games.

Barnsley are hoping that Wilson will sign on loan given Paul Heckingbottom working well with Liverpool in the past.  Liverpool winger Ryan Kent was loaned to Barnsley this season and went on to make 45 appearances in all competitions, gaining vital first-team football.

West Brom may let Roberts leave the club on loan once again next season so he can also get some first-team minutes.

Barnsley look like they are going to finish around mid-table in the Championship this season, but may be looking to push towards the play-off positions next season.
