Peterborough United set to sign National League top scorer

Sky Bet League One side Peterborough United are expected to confirm the signing of Dover Athletic’s Ricky Miller in the coming days.

The striker is the top goal scorer in the National League, and has one of the most impressive goal scoring records in English football, scoring 64 goals in just 91 games for the South Coast club.

The Peterborough Telegraph have reported that Miller could join the Posh in the next couple of days, after Grant McCann confirmed that a transfer deal was in place with an unnamed player.

Miller is out of contract at the National League club, which means he would be available on a free transfer.

Peterborough United’s chairman Darragh MacAnthony took to Twitter yesterday to state that he felt the club needed another two or three strikers to challenge for promotion next season.

Pressure has been put on the Posh chairman this season, after the club’s current strikers failed to perform to the required standards, and finally it seems that many Posh fans may have got their wish.

However, it seems that Peterborough are not the only club interested in signing the front man.

Fellow Sky Bet League One clubs such as Charlton Athletic and Millwall are after Miller, but it is believed that Posh will beat their rivals to his signature.

Ricky Miller grew up in and around Peterborough, playing for local teams such as Bretton United, Spalding and Stamford.

He’s played for several clubs throughout his career, but finally made the move to the Football League to join Luton Town in 2014.

However, he failed to make an impression at the club and was loaned out to Dover.

He joined the National League club on a permanent deal in 2015, and has set the conference alight ever since.

It seems that Ricky Miller is now set to be given another chance in the Football League.
