A 2 -1 win for Plymouth Argyle, after going 1 – 0 down against Crewe in under 10 minutes, saw the Pilgrims secure the summit of the Sky Bet League Two. As a result, Doncaster Rovers fell to second space, after succumbing to their third defeat in three games, against Exeter City. Darren Ferguson’s side had a strong chance when first being confirmed as promoted last month to run ahead and secure the title. However, a downward turn in form has seen the point gap between the top three sides, sit just one point between each other.
At the foot of the table, Newport County failed to beat Carlisle United, which means that they are still not confirmed as safe from a drop out of the English Football League. Hartlepool United also was also unable to pick up any points, but because the Welsh side was unable to win, Hartlepool could still escape relegation.
Meanwhile, in the fight for promotion playoff places, Luton Town and Exeter City have secured their positions. However, sixth and seventh position are still up for grabs, and teams as low as Mansfield Town in 12th, could jump into a playoff position on the final game of the season next week.
