Coming into the final game-day of this League One season, there is a three-way battle for the final play-off position between Millwall, Southend and Rochdale.

The three teams are seperated by just two points ahead of Sunday’s fixtures and it could even come down to goal difference – all three clubs have tough matches against teams still with something to play for.

Despite currently sitting in the final play-off position with 70 points, Millwall face a tough trip away to 10th placed Bristol Rovers who, although cannot make the play-offs, will be keen to finish as high up the table as possible. A Rovers win could see the move as high as 8th in the table – plenty of incentive to give the Lions a competitive match.

Southend are arguably the favourites to clinch 6th place come the end of play on Sunday. Just one point behind Millwall but with a far superior goal difference, the Seasiders host lowly Bury for their final game of the season. the Shakers are still fighting for survival – just two points above the relegation zone – but are in horrendous form having lost six of their last eight outings.

If Bristol Rovers can hold Millwall to either a draw or even defeat the Lions, Southend would secure their place in the play-offs with a victory.

The third team that is coming into Sunday with a chance at play-off football this season is Rochdale. However they have arguably the toughest fixture out of all three teams as they host 5th placed Bradford. Although they’ve already cemented their play-off place, Bradford could finish as high as 3rd with a win at the Spotland Stadium.

A win might not be enough for Rochdale as it is – they would need results to go their way in the other two aforementioned fixtures involving Millwall and Southend.
