Liverpool to step up interest in Fulham starlet

Liverpool are set to make more advances to try and sign Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon in the summer according to a report from the Liverpool Echo.

The 16-year-old defender has been the talk of the town in recent months, breaking into the Fulham first team despite his tender age and often impressing, even when up against players twice his age. But being this young and have this much talent means that some of the biggest teams in the country start circulating as they look to pick off a top talent for their own academy.

That is exactly what has been happening with Sessegnon since he broke onto the scene, with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur all being reported to be interested in the defender. Liverpool has often been named with the rest of these clubs as they too are in the chase to sign the youngster but they are prepared to step things up in the summer.

Even with Sessegnon set to sign a professional contract with Fulham when he turns 17 in May, meaning he will cost far more than if Liverpool were able to sign him when he was just a scholar, the Reds are still very interested in the youngster. They are looking to get rid of current left back Alberto Moreno due to his erratic performances and even though Sessegnon is still very young, they believe he could provide a lot of competition in that position. If this approach fails, Liverpool are likely to move onto Hull City’s Andy Robertson.
