Leeds announce appointment of former Real Madrid board member

Leeds United added a new member to the board this afternoon, with former Real Madrid director of strategy Ivan Bravo replacing former board member Feng Ze Yeh; making him the newest and arguably the most high-profile name of the six United board members.

Ivan Bravo has been linked with the role since the arrival of Andrea Radrizzani, and has finally been officially added to the Leeds board of directors today; beginning his role with immediate effect. Bravo has an impressive record, performing the same role at Spanish giants Real Madrid from 2003 to 2010 and went onto become a director at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence in Qatar in 2011- aimed to develop youth players ahead of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. His seven-year stint at Madrid saw him control the business side of the club, and helped them to become more successful both on and off the field.

Club owner Andrea Radrizzani has expressed his delight in attracting the Spaniard to Yorkshire and has stated that his immense knowledge and experience will vastly benefit the club. Radrizzani has also confirmed that he will work very closely with Bravo to get the best out of the club, and use his expertise to improve the club further behind the scenes.

Bravo is Radrizzani’s first major appointment since taking over 50% of Leeds United in January, and with his previous experiences and roles it looks as if it’s a great start. It is yet to be confirmed what official role the former Madrid man will take, however it has been suggested that he will replace Nicola Salerno as sporting director as the role has been vacant since the Italian’s departure in June 2015.
