Twitter reacts: Blades fans react to the Evans news

As we reported yesterday, Sheffield United are on the verge of re-signing forward Ched Evans for a £500,000 fee.

The player, who currently plays for recently relegated Chesterfield, has been earmarked by Wilder as his first summer signing.

Before his spell in prison, Evans best goalscoring season had previously come at Bramall Lane. Many Blades fans believe that, if they hadn’t of lost his services in 2012, they would have been promoted instead of their arch-rivals, Sheffield Wednesday.

However, it took the club another five seasons before they finally did return to The Championship. They now look set to wrap up their fine season in the best possible way – by bringing up a three-figure point total

The 28-year-old is a Manchester City youth graduate and has also represented Norwich City in his career.orm has been indifferent since joining Chesterfield.

Evans would become Wilder’s first signing since the clubs promotion.

The club, that were the first to take a gamble on the controversial forward, have only seen a seven-goal return in his 29 appearances.

The Blades were a number of clubs originally put off signing Evans when he first left prison. The Welshman spent a number of weeks with them on trial before anger from the outside forced United to turn their back on him. It was widely reported that Oldham Athletic turned him down for the same reasons.

Now, though, it finally seems like Evans will finally return to The Blades. A case that, I’m sure, will be a feeling of unfinished business.

Below is a selection of how United’s fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.
