Monk

Leeds United could lose huge asset to Norwich City in the summer

At one point Leeds United looked certainty for the play offs, but after four losses in six, that seems a distant memory. Should they miss out on the top six, the Whites could be set to lose boss Garry Monk to Norwich City. According to the mirror.

Monk has been given heaps of praise this season thanks to his efforts which put Leeds in the play offs for most of the season. A 2-1 defeat at Burton on Saturday saw them slip to 3 points off sixth placed Fulham with just two games left of the season. On the face of it this is a large collapse considering they were in third place not so long ago.

Joint owner Massimo Cellino is known for having a happy trigger finger when it comes to managers so it’s no wonder questions are being asked. On top of this the ex-Swansea man’s contract runs out at the end of the season so his future is in doubt. Naturally some clubs such as Norwich City are keeping a close eye on the situation.

Equally Monk could see it as a nightmare job and decline any contract offers that come his way. Alan Irvine is only taking over on a temporary basis so the Canary job could be all his if he wants it. All of the hype around the post emphasises the importance of the clash between Leeds and Norwich this weekend. This crucial play off match is to be played in front of a completely sold out Elland Road.
